Finally, there is a chance that those with allergies to sesame seeds or to mustard seeds could be allergic to chia seeds.

There is still much research to be done on chia seeds to prove both the positive qualities and the side-effects of them. Scientists and researchers do not have conclusive evidence of how chia seeds affect the liver and how it breaks down some drugs. Another question is if they do add to the effects of anti-cancer drugs as researchers believe they do in destroying cancer cells. Until more evidence shows the safety of chia seeds, there appears to be no worry for most of the population, as long as the seeds are eaten in moderate amounts.
